Cured of Rollercoasterphobia

I went to a carnival "Foire du Trône" today (I went the past two years...seems to be a tradition now). Somehow I convinced myself that I could go on the Maxximum, one of the tallest rides in the park (second only to the bungee jumping ride). I can't explain it well, but it was one of the those 360º rides, with the "basket" turning individually, going at over 60 miles an hour, and seriously tall. Hell of a ride.

Normally on any ride of significant height, you'll find me squirming as far down in my chair as possible, eyes shut tight, cursing up a storm. Something told me that it was ok to open my eyes, and I did. The scene was beautiful...all of the carnival, the colors, lights, people, sky...and then I was screaming bloody murder on my way down. But each time the ride went back up, I manage to open my eyes briefly, and was amazed at how "comfortable" I was doing so (in quotes because one can only be so comfortable when others are screaming in their ear and the only reason why you're not is because your stomach is in your throat.)

I surprise myself everyday.
